📄 Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using SideWork, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform. Parents must accept additional terms before managing their child's applications.

2. Eligibility

• Students: Must be 14–17 years old with a linked parent/guardian account
• Parents: Must be the legal parent or guardian of the linked student
• Employers: Must be 18+ years old with valid identification

3. Parent Approval System

Every job application made by a student requires explicit parent approval. Parents must link their child's account, accept the terms, and individually approve or reject each application. No student can proceed with a job without parent consent.

4. Platform Role

SideWork is a facilitation platform only. We connect students with local job opportunities. We do not employ students, pay wages, or guarantee the quality or safety of any job. Payment is arranged directly between the employer and student/parent.

5. Prohibited Content

• Jobs involving hazardous materials, heavy machinery, or dangerous conditions
• Any work that violates child labor laws
• Content that is discriminatory, offensive, or inappropriate
• Misleading job descriptions or fraudulent postings

6. Liability

SideWork is not liable for any disputes, injuries, or issues that arise between employers and students/parents. Users use the platform at their own risk. We strongly recommend parents verify all job details independently.

7. Account Termination

We reserve the right to terminate any account that violates these terms, the Code of Conduct, or any applicable law without notice.

⚖️ Code of Conduct

🚫 For Employers — Strictly Prohibited:

• No Racism or Discrimination — You must not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic in job postings or interactions.
• No Sexual Offence or Harassment — Any sexual harassment, inappropriate touching, suggestive language, grooming behavior, or any form of sexual misconduct toward minors is a criminal offence and will be immediately reported to law enforcement.
• No Abusive or Bad Language — Profanity, verbal abuse, insults, threats, bullying, or intimidation of any kind is strictly forbidden.
• No Exploitation — Underpaying, overworking, or exploiting students in any way is prohibited.

💚 Required Behaviors:

• Respect Mental Health — Create supportive, encouraging environments. Be patient with young workers. Never create hostile, stressful, or humiliating situations.
• Maintain Neutrality — Do not impose political, religious, or ideological views on students.
• Ensure Safety — Provide a safe, supervised work environment at all times.
• Communicate Clearly — Be transparent about job expectations, hours, and pay.
• Respect Boundaries — Students are minors. Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

• Review every job application carefully before approving
• Verify employer details independently when possible
• Maintain regular communication with your child about their work experience
• Report any concerns immediately

🎓 For Students:

• Always get parent approval before committing to any job
• Never share personal information beyond what's required
• Report any uncomfortable or inappropriate situation to your parent immediately
• Be honest, punctual, and professional
